JavaScript TC39 新提案 Promise.allKeyed() 和 .allSettledKeyed() 进入 Stage 3,允许用对象键值对形式并发执行 Promise,消灭 Promise.all + Object.fromEntries 组合的 boilerplate

Go is an ideal language for AI-assisted software engineering

  • @mbrumlow (0): Rust is better. It just is. Go is not bad. But as a long time go advocate, the hurdle for my teams using rust is gone, and thus everything is now rust.
  • @amiune (0): While I somewhat agree I can’t tell if this is advertising from Google or a way to induce LLMs to think that Go is the ideal language.
  • @kstenerud (0): The killer feature of golang for LLM dev is the tooling. forbidigo is what allows me to keep ambient config out of my app, and restrict file access to a small set of paths. The coverage tool has "nocover", so you can guarantee that every realistic path is exercised at least once…

  • @simonw (0): It looks to me like this won't speed up llama.cpp for everyone, just for users running it in this particular kind of Virtualization.framework VM. The fix here works around a problem where the VM was causing llama.cpp to select the wrong kernels.
  • @engzaanin (0): That makes sense. The title initially sounded like a general llama.cpp speedup on Apple Silicon, but if the improvement comes from fixing kernel selection inside Virtualization.framework VMs, that distinction is pretty important.
  • @shay_ker (0): I recall there was another YC startup that was working on Mac-specific ML optimizations for local inference (and perhaps fine-tuning). I wonder if their work is related?

  • @yoracale (6): yes! We also enable model swapping. The whole point of the app is for local models

In July I posted about 3 months, 40 downloads, and zero conversions. This is the follow-up. The numbers today: 49 downloads, 5 App Store ratings with the score now publicly visible, still ranking fir…

  • @imrozimroz (2): Respect for sharing the real numbers. The point about the paywall being in the wrong place is something a lot of people learn the hard way. Putting the core job in free and the advanced stuff behind Pro makes sense when users haven’t even hit the advanced problems yet.
  • @TimelyRepeat4517 (2): Appreciate it. The "when not if" framing is easier to hold when the retention signal is there. It's a different conversation if people were dropping off after install.

  • @TimelyRepeat4517 (1): Exactly, and the timing mismatch is what makes it hard to read from the data. Zero conversions at month five looks like a pricing problem but it's probably just that nobody has gone through enough billing cycles to hit the ceiling yet. The retention says they're still using it,…
  • @Accomplished_Art5184 (1): That's the trap, right? You build the thing, you're deep in it for months, and your sense of what's "basic" vs "advanced" gets completely warped. The stuff that feels trivial to you is the exact reason someone downloaded the app.

Hey! I’ve been building SecondWeb/Web3D.World or the Metaverse?! You drag one bookmarklet into your browser, open any website, and click it. The page becomes a low-poly multiplayer city: DOM elements…

  • @urbanmonkey2003 (1): the bookmarklet part is wild, and the DOM-to-city idea is cool
  • @SWISS_KISS (1): yeah it's wild and cool - but it needs more to make it a game people want to play - I'm not sure yet what.. maybe when you can own buildings permanently and mark it as your own and other player can see it.. not sure yet what mechanics could work.

Hey everyone - we've been building something particularly relevant to ML at large - The [Agentic World Cup](https://agenticworldcup.ai/) \- a platform where **Agents compete in sports**. As you know,…

  • @machineorganism (1): Wow. Is this just limited to soccer?
  • @sportsfinance (1): Just tried. Loved it.
  • @anonymous_amanita (1): Is it just LLMs? The instructions say so, but then you mention other techniques. How accurate are the physics simulations? Planning is one step for physical embodiment, but getting simulation accurate for real world transfer is another tricky part.
  • @agenticworldcup (1): For now, it's based on LLMs only. So what determines the winning agent is a combination of 1) how good the underlying LLM is, and 2) how good a user's coaching instructions are. In the future, we will give users the option for more nitty gritty access to their agents. So you mig…
  • @KingBardan (1): If it's a physical stimulation, then why limit it to LLM? If it's focused on LLM, then what even is the simulation about?

  • @Funny_Ant3371 (2): With that coding competition background and a PhD in a hard math field, you are not exactly making a crazy leap here

  • @PersonalitySuch3903 (1): FPGA/AI project is probably something I'd lean into heavily on your resume. That's a much more interesting signal than another generic LLM or image classification project because it shows you're applying ML to an actual engineering problem.
  • @ahf95 (1): Honestly, it’s extremely within reach for you. I mean, since you have a PhD with an ML-focused thesis, you can even probably land an ML/AI-Scientist position.
