- @aidanvyas (7): @simonw @astral_sh I've always preferred using ruff check --select ALL, and then, to the extent that I need to bypass a rule, you can add that to your pyproject.toml file. ty (their type checker) is also pretty nice and worth checking out!
- @saidelike (3): @simonw @astral_sh Is it a good thing or a bad thing from your perspective? :-)
- @_dr5w (3): @simonw @astral_sh I dunno man, if it look good to you before is there really 1618 things to fix in a utils library. 🤷🏻♂️
- @tech_summaries (1): @simonw @astral_sh the jump to 413 rules is brutal for legacy codebases. i had a similar wake-up call running it on a few old scripts—it's wild how many things we just ignore until the defaults move. did you just suppress them, or are you actually working through the backlog?
- @vikasmalpani (1): @simonw @astral_sh The number that jumps out is how many latent issues were sitting there passing. Same thing happens when we point stricter evals at our agents: the failures were always there, we just weren't checking for them. Raising the bar doesn't add bugs, it reveals them.

While building software with my teammates, I thought the hard part would be writing the code. But It wasn't. The hard part is getting someone who doesn't know you to spend even two minutes looking at…
- @escalicha (6): For me it got easier when I stopped leading with the thing I built and just talked about the annoying problem behind it. People will happily talk about their problem; asking them to care about your solution first is a much harder sell tbh.
- @HyperDanon (3): Building was never the hard part, even way before the AI.
- @low-control-labs (2): Yeah I think you almost need a 4K video showing your tool solving a problem. People won't really put the effort into processing and trying to understand something unless it's beneficial for them
- @Sea_Faithlessness198 (2): building feels like 5-10% of the job these days lol It used to be more but its gotten so much easier that it feels like a skill that isnt that useful anymore.
- @MainStatistician3328 (2): Some people have seen my work and even appreciated it, but it is still far from what i am expecting!
Hi, I’m just entering the world of SaaS and startups. My background is in B2B marketing and sales, but there’s one common idea that I don’t fully agree with. Everyone says: “Validate as fast as possi…
- @bondryanbond (3): Having spent half of last year polishing a product that never got any users, I can tell you with some certainty that it's better to validate quickly. I'm doing that now, with a new thing I'm working on. I put together the MVP in a couple days, and then spent the rest of the week…
- @Morzinnn (3): Yes, I agree it doesn’t have to be perfect, but if it isn’t good enough, you still won’t know whether the problem is the idea itself or how it was executed. I also think there’s a difference between targeting B2C and B2B customers.
- @rupert_at_work (3): The useful version is “launch early, don’t lie.” If the core workflow genuinely solves the painful bit, ship it with rough edges and talk to users. If the core workflow is still cosplay, polishing the gradients won’t save it. I’d draw the line at: can a stranger get the promised…
- @wyktor (2): Agreed. The sooner you get users and their feedback the better
- @Powerful-Software850 (2): It depends how long this “polishing” takes. I launched mine right away and have just been fine tuning and improving along the way.
I built a client's website using **Astro + React + Tailwind CSS**. It's mostly static, has very little JavaScript, and Lighthouse consistently scores **90–100**. What I'm confused about is that the C…
- @mq2thez (22): If you’re using any React at all, you aren’t using “very little JavaScript”. Depending on how your script tags are rendered (are you using async/defer?) that could slow down FCP. Tailwind can result in big CSS payloads if not configured right. TTFB is a result of your host, if y…
- @AshleyJSheridan (6): Yeah, I came here to say this. Have we really reached the point where people are using a library like React without realising what it even is?
- @mq2thez (6): That’s not what I meant about the script tags. Go read about the attributes I mentioned and check them out.
- @Character_Coach3846 (3): My first question would be: are you looking at URL-level CrUX or origin-level CrUX? I've been burned by that before. - @manbartz (60): This is pretty cool. What are some use cases for it? I could see it working pretty well in some auth flows, like refreshing sessions when the user has multiple tabs open.
- @protocod (53): TIL mutex exists in web browsers. Really cool btw
- @Dull-Structure-8634 (32): That is exactly how we use it in our application at my job. Works wonderfully. Easy to set up also.
- @derpystuff_ (21): Made a webapp recently that ingests API data into IndexedDB, locks allow me to ensure I only ever have one tab pushing data to the IDB. - @CertainAmoeba5400 (3): six years of iteration on matting is wild, how's the inference time and VRAM usage on a midrange GPU? thats usually the dealbreaker for selfhosting these kinds of models
- @shrimpdiddle (3): > I am also thinking of integrating into ComfyUI. Looking forward to that.

- @gorgeousmediator07 (6): Running a feedback board without tying requests to actual usage is like taking product advice from strangers on a bus now
- @squareplates (3): I think the biggest lesson is the one you landed on at the end. The vulnerability wasn't the bots, it was treating anonymous feature requests as product evidence.
